Throughout the 8 years that the CrossFit Adrenaline doors have been open, we’ve seen amazing things happen at our box. Things that were not even on our radar when we signed up our first member. 2012 saw our first team appearance at the CrossFit Games. To witness our first Open experience evolve into sending a team to Regionals and then The Game is worthy of a “30 for 30” episode on ESPN. We went on to podium in 3rd place in 2013 and made a final 12th place appearance in 2014.The CFA team has since moved on with marriages, babies and other life priorities. Tom Bourdon still has CrossFit Games goals he wants to fulfill.
When we think about the 15 or so “Flagship” members who have been with us since the beginning, Tom and his wife, Vicki, always top the list. Since day 1 of CFA’s existance, Tom has been an example of hard work, consistency and encouragement. Going from range of motion limitations when he started CrossFit in 2010 to CrossFit Games appearances in 2013, 2014, 2015, and now earning the title of 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games 4th Fittest Man the world for the 60+ age group proves that it’s never too late and you are never “too old”.
Ever so grateful and humble about his successes, Tom attributes his CrossFit journey to the support of his personal family and his CrossFit Adrenaline family. CFA given Tom the opportunity to share two of his CrossFit Games appearances with his daughters, Lindsay and Allie as they competed on the CFA Team in 2013 and 2014. Experiencing the CF Games with his daughters meant more to him than actually competing. While our little box in Northwest GA continues to grow athletes on the world competition scale such as Tom, he is the first one to give our athletes, hardcore competitors or not, that extra encouragement during a WOD to push them to discover new limits of strength, speed and agility. He considers himself just another of the many athletes that calls CFA their home box.
Always thinking of others before himself, he made sure to send a note back to our CFA members in the middle of his Games competition weekend to update us, thank us. He was sure to identify and individually thank those who took extra time to invest in his training. Attached is another message to us that sums up his 2018 The Open to The CrossFit Games experience that he and his daughter, Allie, created on her blog and gave us permission to share. We are so proud of Tom Bourdon and extremely blessed that he calls CrossFit Adrenaline home.
